GARY D. ELLIS, CEO
COLUMBIA SCHOOL OF BROADCASTING 

A New Yorker by experience and a Southerner by birth, Gary Ellis moved
to Washington in 2010 to manage the financial oversight of the National
Geographic Television division. His experience in television was honed
over the course of a six-year career in production at AETN networks
including A&E and the History Channel in New York City.

Gary has a breadth of financial acumen. In addition to his television
experience, Gary has worked in various finance capacities. At the
Bachelder Group, he was a Vice-President specializing in annuity and
option analysis for executive compensation for Fortune 500 companies. At
Swiss Bank, he was a corporate banker providing numerous loan and
financial instruments to corporate entities. Recently, he was appointed a
Special Assistant in the District of Columbia’s Office of Economic Planning
and Development. Gary began his career as systems consultant for what
would eventually become Accenture.

Gary is a graduate of the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University
where he specialized in Finance. He completed his undergraduate degree at
Princeton University. He also has a certificate in Entertainment Media
Management from New York University. He is a member of
the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences
